Tip of the Month
August 2010
Is it alright to just yank out a USB drive when finished? A message is often displayed after a precipitous withdrawal that you may have lost your data. That seldom happens so you may get careless. Although it’s a good idea to wait a few seconds on a PC to let it finish, it won’t hurt it. But with Macs, writing is often delayed so it's important to use the eject process because the OS flushes the buffer and then writes it to the drive.
